Taking Ownership of Your Business
The web site took forever to load. When it did load, it looked awful. The revenue model appeared incomprehensible.
This was my first impression of MySpace.
Now MySpace is one of the most visted web sites on the internet.
I still think the site looks awful.
But now at least I see how they make money.
Do you think that maybe "MySpace" had some growth issues when they got started? Did they have everything tweaked just perfectly on the first to maximize their popularity and revenue?
Of course not.
They had to work on it and get the bugs out. As network marketer (or "affiliate with leverage" as I like to think of it) you will likely run into problems you have little direct control over. Things like what the company's web site looks like or how fast it loads.
In this situation you can do two things: quit and miss out on a great opportunity; or work through the inevitable kinks and make the most effective business you can.
So, which is it?
When you go into business for yourself there are so many things that will happen that you just can't plan for. Sometimes suppliers will not have items in stock or items shipped get lost or damaged in transit.
These types of things are out of your control and your reaction to them can determine whether or not your will thrive or always be a victim of circumstance.
This is especially true in network marketing and frankly is one of the downsides. Because as a network marketer you are dependant upon your company to provide goods and services of a high quality and your fortunes can fall when they don't meet the expectations of yoruself or your customers.
This can have a negative effect on your own reputation even though the circumstances were completely out of your control.
That's becuase you are the representative of the company, and since in your customer's eyes you represent the company, any misstep by them has to be explained or otherwise handled by you.
The first thing to do is acknowledge there was a problem. Next, let them know that the substandard product or service is not the normal course of things and reassure them with an estimate on when the product will be replaced or the service will be back to the normal high standards.
A mistake made by your company can be a time for your own service to shine. If you have built a relationship with your customers and distributors, they will know that you are there to give them whatever support you can. Even if a company were to go completely belly up, you would still have a team to work with on developing another income stream with you.
The key is to provide the kind of help at the begining that is going to help them achieve thier business goals. In most cases if you are helping someone make money, they will be a lot more likely to follow your future advice.
