Keeping In Touch with Your People

You will often hear the slogan "the money is in the list" repeated by marketers ad nausium as if it's a religious mantra. While there is some core truth behind the statement, just repeating it doesn't do anyone much good. I would same the same about pretty much any religious mantra.

Even some of the people repeating this miss the reality that a "list" is made up of people who have opted to receive information from you. You should consider yourself a guest in their email inbox.

Now as a guest, are you going to scream at them to buy something from you as soon as you walk in the door? I sure hope not! That's a sure way to not get invited back, at least in my home. Instead, when you are a guest at someone's home for the first time don't you bring a small gift? Maybe a bottle of wine to have with dinner or flowers for the host. So how do you take the same approach with email?

Instead of demanding that the people on your list buy something from you, offer something of value first. If you were honest in your original request to have them subscribe to your email newsletter, training course, etc. then they should be expecting that you will eventually be offering something for them to purchase.

Surprise them!

Give away as much as you can and don't be afraid to let "you" show through. Most of us who build a business on the internet are really nice and interesting people! :D Mixed in with your message to the people on your list talk about what makes you tick. What do you like to do for fun? What do you like most about what you do for work?

And ask questions!

This is a great way to interact with the people on your list. Ask them the same kinds of things that you are talking about. What to they like doing in thier leisure time? What do they like most about what they do for work? What do they like the least?

Having a blog that allows them to give you their answers, and even respond to the answers of others, helps to not only build a relationship between you and them, but can help build a community within your list. When you have the members of your group interacting among themselves it really gets to be fun!

At that point the [tag-tec]network marketing training[/tag-tec] process, or whatever other goals you have, get easier as more people jump on board with similar goals and will even be happy to help with yours. What I've found is that people like to help the people they like. I know that's true for me and it's true for most everyone who's been successful. They didn't get that way by themselves - they've all had help.

And I think one of the more enjoyable ways to get that help is to give something of value first, and the ones who make a connection with you will be eager to help. When it all works well, then everyone comes out ahead.

Now to get to the point where you can start building relationships you will need to start working on finding the people who want to share in what you have (buiding your list). My training program (which you can sign up for here) features that as a network marketing skill, but I also found someone else who posted a good article on list building.

Have an excellent weekend!
